These features are demonstrated in this new video

Use PartsLab tools to find overlapping Parts

This set of features will expedite finding Parts that overlap, usually due to poor design modeling or similar geometry in more than one linked model.

Available in version 4 or later

Finds overlapping Parts

Highlights and isolates overlaps by Level and Category

Aids with constructability review - drill down to the overlapping parts in the tree / understand that overlap condition

Filter overlaps by Parts creation date – see new overlaps just created

Ignore / hide unimportant overlaps to simplify review process

Overlap Rules:

IMPORTANT TERMS - these overlap tree actions cause different visualization behavior:

Highlighted nodes - when you see the word "highlighted" within this help, we are referring to clicking on the TREE NODE NAME, not the checkbox

Checked nodes - when you see the word "checked" within this help, we are referring to clicking the TREE CHECK BOXES next to the node names

Parts must already exist when using any of these features.

The features on this PartsLab tab will only operate within the managed validation view. No other views in your project will be edited or disturbed while using these visualization tools.

An overlap condition is always two Parts.

Overlapping Parts appear Orange in the managed validation view, all other Parts are transparent.

Overlaps where each Part are from a different original object category - this overlap will appear in both categories in the overlap tree.

Overlaps where each Part is associated to a different building level - this overlap will appear in both levels in the overlap tree.

The only way an overlap condition will completely disappear, is when those parts no longer overlap. Either the Part or it's original object must be edited to remove the overlap.

*We recommend as best practice to always edit the original object when possible.
